Romance and music are truly

international languages.

This Valentine’s Day Mt. Gretna music offers proof by uniting the two, with the help of Chinese pipa virtuoso, Wu Man. Renowned in the USA for her show stopping appearances with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road project, Wu Man will give a rare and passionate solo performance perfect for the occasion.

Grammy Award Winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra...

...coming to Annville/Mt. Gretna/Hershey/Elizabethtown area Friday, March 19th at 7:30. This is a MUST SEE. We expect to be sold out with guests coming specifically to relax and enjoy the Inn and topping it all off by attending the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra! Read more:

Quoting From Roger Gross' newsletter: "March 19th won't be the first time that Gretna Music audiences have heard a performance on a night immediately before the same group appears in Carnegie Hall. Nor will it be the first time that a chamber orchestra has assembled on a Gretna Music stage. But it will be the first time that audiences here have heard an out sized chamber orchestra with players whose concentrated attention is so finely attuned to one another that they don't even want a conductor."

The Grammy Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra the world’s pre-eminent conductor-less chamber orchestra, teams up with up-and-coming star of the cello world Alisa Weilerstein. (Ms Weilerstein replaces the originally scheduled Truls Mø)

"Worldwide highly acclaimed cellist Alisa Weilerstein, just back from performances last December with Venezuela's famed Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, the White House, and the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras make this one of the most anxiously awaited, and costly to produce, events in Gretna Music's long list of notable concerts."--Roger Gross

"An Ecstasy and a generosity that lift performance into the realm of pure happiness."--New York Times.

According to Roger Gross, "The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra concert will be presented at Gretna Music's winter venue, Leffler Performance Hall at Elizabethtown College. Although tickets to a pre-concert dinner are already sold out, a few remain for the Annual Gala Buffet at the home of college president and Mrs. Theodore Long. To inquire about tickets for the buffet, concert or both, call 717-361-1508 or visit the Gretna Music website. Because this event is likely to be another winter season sell-out, early orders are advised.

Applaud Our Youth, See some H.S. Performances This Year

Our friend, and a great friend of the Performing Arts throughout our region, Diane Paul, has put together a list of all the High Schools in our area staging musicals this season.
According to Ms. Paul: "There has been much press lately about our local high schools' upcoming musicals. Some of them are reporting drops in advance sales of up to 75%!

"We know that this area is exceptional in the quality of its high school performing arts. So let's take a stand in support of the region's schools! Here is a list of school districts participating in the Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards this May. It lists their spring musical, along with the dates/times and contact phone number to order tickets. If you can fit one or more into your schedule, buy a ticket and applaud our youth. I'm sure you'll be delighted. And please - pass this on to all of your theater-going friends!
